about RICK MONROE

“It’s like a good gumbo -- you need to add a little kick of spice sometimes and not be afraid to try something new.” - Rick Monroe

Rick Monroe is a tireless worker, strong songwriter and relentless performer.  Monroe just keeps it rolling, releasing great music and touring.  Rick’s headlined his own tours and has opened for the likes of Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Josh Thompson, Pat Green, Charlie Daniels, Dwight Yoakam, Montgomery Gentry and Aaron Lewis.

In 2014, his new release, “It’s a Love Thing” features the emphasis tracks, Small Town, Fires Out and Great Minds Drink Alike.  The EP will be released on June 3, 2014.

Rick takes us inside the music… Monroe says, "In the case of Small Town (5/20 release date on iTunes) Kenneth Duncan and I were stuck on the song we were writing and he just happen to play the first part of "Small Town" for an ear break… and that was it! We shifted gears immediately and boom.  The one thing I've seen in all my travels is people are people, with the same basic wants and needs.  We all love and we all struggle.  I really feel we struck the perfect balance.   With a basic chord progression & direct lyric I believe we’ve captured the large & small view of the world in simple song.”

Rick continues, “Fires Out (5/27 release date on iTunes) was inspired by trying to mix a different flavor into country.  Recently there's a lot of country rap going on and I wanted to see if we could take from the groove/pop side of à la Maroon 5/Bruno Mars.  I know it's pretty different, but I think it’s like a good gumbo you need to add a little kick of spice sometimes and not be afraid to try something new.

The E.P.’s track listing is:

Great Minds Drink Alike

Fires Out

On My Way To You

Jägermeister’s Ultimate Summer of Music kicks off on May 16th and includes over 30 concerts nationwide through September.  “Jägermeister has been supporting musicians of all genres for more than 20 years,” said Cliff Rigano, Director of Music Marketing for Jägermeister at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc.  “We’ve always prided ourselves on working with some of the most well respected acts in the industry but we have yet to bring 3 top acts from 3 different genres together.  Each of these artists consistently deliver legendary, high-energy shows that we know our diverse consumer set will love.  Simply put: Jägermeister makes music sound better.”

This year marks the first time the brand has taken a multi-genre approach to the tour, signing on some of the most successful musical acts in the industry.  From an industry legend like Paul Oakenfold to Eli Young Band, whose latest album and three singles have topped the country charts, to Fall Out Boy, whose latest album, Save Rock and Roll, continues to top the charts, Jägermeister is bringing the best of three music genres to fans this summer.  As an added bonus, country artist Rick Monroe and comic Jim Florentine will emcee select dates.

“Jäger has been associated with clubs and club music for many years.  It is a very popular drink in my community and I’m very happy to be working alongside them on this tour,” said Paul Oakenfold.

“Since we’ve been known to take shots on stage, we thought, Jäger and EYB is a no brainer,” said Mike Eli, lead singer of Eli Young Band.  “Count us in!” “We’re stoked to be a part of Jäger’s Summer of Music program.  We can’t wait to get out there with New Politics this summer and give big thanks to Jägermeister for supporting us,” adds Fall Out Boy.

By downloading and using Jägermeister’s new mobile app, Jagerbonds, fans can get access to free music downloads from each of the artists, and can also enter to win a VIP experience at the show of their choice from May 1st through August.  Those attending the shows can also capture their night out by using the app, which transforms images and videos from multiple users’ social media posts into a video highlight reel of a group’s night out.  The video reel is set to songs from the artists featured in the Ultimate Summer of Music tour lineup, so fans can relive and share the legendary night long after the show.
