“It’s like a good gumbo -- you need to add a little kick of spice sometimes and not be afraid to try something new.” - Rick Monroe

Rick Monroe is a tireless worker, strong songwriter and relentless performer.  Monroe just keeps it rolling, releasing great music and touring.  Rick’s headlined his own tours and has opened for the likes of Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Josh Thompson, Pat Green, Charlie Daniels, Dwight Yoakam, Montgomery Gentry and Aaron Lewis.

In 2014, his latest release, “It’s a Love Thing” features the emphasis tracks, Small Town, Fires Out and Great Minds Drink Alike

Rick takes us inside the music… Monroe says, "In the case of Small Town, Kenneth Duncan and I were stuck on the song we were writing and he just happen to play the first part of "Small Town" for an ear break… and that was it! We shifted gears immediately and boom.  The one thing I've seen in all my travels is people are people, with the same basic wants and needs.  We all love and we all struggle.  I really feel we struck the perfect balance.   With a basic chord progression & direct lyric I believe we’ve captured the large & small view of the world in simple song.”

Rick continues, “Fires Out was inspired by trying to mix a different flavor into country.  Recently there's a lot of country rap going on and I wanted to see if we could take from the groove/pop side of à la Maroon 5/Bruno Mars.  I know it's pretty different, but I think it’s like a good gumbo you need to add a little kick of spice sometimes and not be afraid to try something new.

An ambassador for country music: Monroe was among the first country artists to perform in Russia and China. His extensive touring history includes performances throughout Russia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Hungary, Honduras, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Bahamas, Germany, England, Netherlands and Switzerland, sharing the stage with a who's who of musical greats. At the request of Pete Peterson, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, Rick performed at the week-long 4th of July celebrations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Mihn City. Monroe was honored to sing the U.S. National Anthem for the 5-year anniversary of the re-opening of diplomatic relations between the countries marking the first time the anthem had been sung at a public event in Vietnam in over 25 years. He followed that up with a Command Performance for the former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, on the USS Sequoia Presidential Yacht in Washington, DC. This lead to a trip to Russia where Monroe performed at several orphanages and was a featured performer on REN TV's Bulat Okudzhava Festival in Moscow, Russia.

Rick Monroe takes life experiences that we all share... the events that touch our hearts and creates music that speaks directly to the soul in each of us. Whether in an intimate setting accompanied only by his acoustic guitar, a good old honky-tonk, or on stage playing with his band to thousands at an outdoor festival halfway around the world, Rick strives to connect to his audiences. He is always a huge crowd pleaser.
